Lafayette is a great town and Covenant UMC is a happening church. This is our third visit to this church. It is always a delight because I have deep roots in this part of the country. One of my great, great, great grandfathers, founded a small town just outside of Lafayette and two of my great, great grandfathers were Methodist circuit riders in this area. I always feel a connection to my roots when I go here and get a chance to meet a lot of my cousins.
Chris and Susie Blanchard are long-time friends. We attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA, with them, and were married a week apart in 1972. We have had the kind of friendship where you can be apart for years and pick up right where you left off when you get back together.
We had a wonderful time at Covenant UMC. The kids loved BibleQuest and we were blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of this great congregation.
One of my newest characters in storytelling is Jonah. I tell his story as a South Louisiana Cajun. The ultimate test of this character was to tell his story in the middle of cajun country. Chris even loaned me his rubber boots to add a measure of authenticity.
Here are some of the children and the BibleQuest medal winners.
