We had a great time in Silsbee, TX. This was a return visit to this community and one of many times of working with our good friend, Rev. Dan Darby. I first worked with Dan in the 80’s, when he was in his first church in East Texas. We’ve been friends with him and his family ever since.
The meeting in Silsbee went very well. The congregation responded enthusiastically to the stories and the crowd grew each night. We met in the newly remodeled worship space which was designed for contemporary worship. It is more informal and was well suited to the stories.
The Bible Characters were well received and spoke to the hearts of those in attendance. It was great to watch the Holy Spirit at work!
I always enjoy watching the expressions of their faces as the stories hit the mark.
We enjoyed working with the children each night in BibleQuest. The kids were excited to be a part of the event and worked really hard. Lots of Bible verses were memorized and there was much laughter and fun had by all.
Here are our medal winners along with Glenda, the children’s director and pastor Dan. There is a great story here of one of the boys who was born as a preemie and is now a growing healthy child who is one of our medal winners. Go God.
There are wonderful stories of redemption and forgiveness that come out of this week. We delight in the new Christians in Silsbee and the many recommitments to faith in Christ. What an amazing week. Pray with me that God will continue to bless Dan and his family as they serve Him in Silsbee and that the church will fall more and more in love with Him.
