What a great church! Tony Holifield has been pastor here since 1995 and has Central UMC humming. There is a powerful emphasis here on the centrality of Christ. That emphasis undergirds a program that is strong in missions, worship, evangelism, and discipleship. It was a joy to be in ministry with this congregation. Sunday morning I preached in 4 services, back to back. That’s what I call a marathon! Most of the evening services were well attended. Rain affected the attendance on Monday and Tuesday, but the folks were back on Wednesday. Here is a picture of our crowd on Wednesday night.
BibleQuest went well. Susan Williams is a very effective children’s director. She has developed a powerful program called Timothy Team, where parents find an ally in discipling their own children. Susan did a great job working with BibleQuest this week. The children were very excited each night. One of our third grade medal winners memorized the whole book, 77 verses! Felicia and I had a blast working with them.
The kids did a great job with the closing program.
Here are our medal winners with Rev. Tony Holifield and Susan Williams, Director of Children’s Ministries.
I hope to have more pictures to post later. It was an awesome week.
Please be in prayer as we begin revival services in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at Heritage UMC with Rev. Tommy Artman.
